The signing of the contracts occurred at the headquarters of the Armament Agency in Warsaw. The Łucznik Arms Factory "Łucznik" – Radom sp. z o.o. was represented by Dr. Wojciech Arndt, President of the Management Board, and Seweryn Figurski, a member of the board, while Colonel Robert Frommholz, Deputy Chief of the Armament Agency, represented the military.
– Polish weapons in the hands of Polish soldiers symbolize unity. The experiences gained, the collection of opinions, and the consistent care of the Polish manufacturer in delivering the best possible military equipment to the user have resulted in the opportunity to acquire another significant batch of VIS 100 pistols – a weapon that we can all be proud of. I am convinced that soon we will be able to share more good news related to the products of the Polish defense industry, and particularly the Łucznik Arms Factory, which will be part of the wonderful tradition associated with Polish military history – emphasized Brigadier General Dr. Artur Kuptel, Chief of the Armament Agency.
More VIS 100s for the Polish Army
The contract for the purchase of VIS 100 9×19 mm semi-automatic pistols by the Polish Armed Forces is to be fulfilled by November 30, 2026. This will be another delivery of these designs to the army. They first entered service in 2019 as part of standardizing the individual armament of soldiers. The VIS 100 replaced the outdated 9mm Makarov military pistol.
– VIS 100 pistols are already well known to the Polish army, and, like the rifles from the MSBS GROT family, they are highly praised by soldiers. VIS 100 users emphasize that it is an ergonomic and user-friendly weapon that allows for quick and precise firing – said Seweryn Figurski, a member of the board of the Łucznik Arms Factory "Łucznik" – Radom sp. z o.o.
Representative MSBS GROTs for the Polish Army
The second of the signed contracts, also dated May 19, is to be fulfilled by September 29, 2023. It will be another delivery of representative MSBS GROT 5.56R rifles to the Polish military. They first entered service in 2016 and were assigned to representative units, replacing the aged 1945 SKS rifles.
– Soldiers using representative rifles in service undoubtedly form a unique group of weapon users. They uphold the wonderful traditions of military ceremonies and enhance many patriotic events, state events, or those involving VIPs. We are pleased and proud that the Łucznik Arms Factory, through its designs, will be part of the wonderful tradition associated with Polish military history – said Dr. Wojciech Arndt, President of the Management Board of the Łucznik Arms Factory "Łucznik" – Radom.
The semi-automatic VIS 100 pistol in caliber 9 x 19 mm operates on the principle of short recoil of the barrel, with a locking block tilted by the barrel in the vertical plane (Browning's system). The pistol is adapted for use by both right- and left-handed shooters. It has an ergonomic grip with the ability to adjust its size to the user's hand through the use of interchangeable inserts in two sizes. The weapon's frame is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy. It is equipped with a NATO Rail compatible with STANAG 4694, intended for mounting a laser target indicator or tactical lighting, increasing its functionality. The VIS 100 stands out for its low weight, small dimensions, good maneuverability, speed of use, and a high level of safety. It has an automatic safety, protecting against accidental and premature firing. Additionally, the pistol is equipped with a decocker, releasing the tensioned hammer. The automatic safety locks the firing pin and is released when the trigger is fully pulled, making the pistol safe when carried with a chambered round. The shape of the trigger guard allows for comfortable use of the weapon with protective gloves in both summer and winter. The single-action/double-action hammer mechanism allows for quick and precise shooting. Standard sights are equipped with tritium light sources, allowing for precise shooting both day and night. With a special 123 mm barrel, the pistol can be used with sound suppressors. The pistol is powered by double-row box magazines with a capacity of 15 rounds.
The representative MSBS-5.56R rifle was developed by the Łucznik Arms Factory and the Military University of Technology (WAT) in close cooperation with the Warsaw Garrison Command. The weapon was designed to replace the "aged" SKS 1945 rifles in representative subunits of the Polish Armed Forces. The MSBS-5.56R is a variant of the MSBS-5.56K rifle, firing blank ammunition. Compared to the original, it features a 508 mm barrel, an extended stock, a 10-round magazine, and a fixed, reinforced buttstock. Due to the unique feature of the MSBS-5.56 system, namely the "modularity of design," the representative rifle can easily be "transformed" into a standard rifle. MSBS-5.56R received a certificate of registration for an industrial design of the European Union with the number 002482257-0001.
